1. Scope and Controller
This policy applies to the Scan & Translate iOS app and its account and AI translation services. The data controller is Beijing Huichengjia Technology Co., Ltd. Contact: support@hcjworld.com.
2. On-Device Processing by Default
Scanning, cropping, photo HD restoration, Watermark Camera, image enhancement, PDF creation, OCR, document management, and AI erasing are performed on your device. Photo restoration and Watermark Camera do not call cloud endpoints or upload or store original photos. A location watermark reads the current location only after permission and only when you enable it, then writes it directly into the local image without online address lookup. Basic scanning, viewing and sharing local items, built-in learning and device reading stay free.
3. Account Information
When you create an account, we process your email, Argon2-hashed password, account creation time, sign-in tokens, trial state, membership entitlement, records of Terms and Privacy Policy acceptance, and age-eligibility confirmation. Passwords are never stored in plaintext. Tokens are stored in the device Keychain.
4. AI Cloud Translation
Only when you actively choose AI Cloud Translation and explicitly consent does the app send the OCR text, language settings, layout roles, and request identifier needed for translation to HCJ servers and then DeepSeek. Original photos and PDFs are not uploaded with translation requests. HCJ does not retain source or translated text; DeepSeek processes it under its applicable terms and privacy policy and may process or retain it in mainland China. We require processors to use the data only for the disclosed purpose and to apply protections no less protective than this policy. Do not submit state secrets, trade secrets, unredacted identity documents, health data, or other sensitive personal information. Withdraw future cloud text consent in Settings; choosing on-device translation sends no cloud request.
4a. Live Conversations and QR Invitations
After you consent and start a conversation, audio is relayed to Tencent Cloud, and text to DeepSeek. Chinese, English and Cantonese cloud speech uses Tencent Cloud; other supported speech uses device voices. Tibetan is a text-only beta. Conversations are handled temporarily in memory, not as cloud history. A QR invitation allows one guest, expires after two hours or when ended by the host, and uses the host’s voice allowance. Each device can save originals, translations and audio; deleting a local copy does not delete exports or another device’s copy. Withdraw future cloud conversation consent in Me → Settings → Cloud processing & permissions.
5. Usage Records and Allowances
To enforce free allowances, trials, and membership entitlements, we record AI call counts, character counts, processing time, success or failure status, and a random request identifier. The server does not retain source or translated text from translation requests. Minimum security logs may be retained to prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, and meet legal obligations.
6. Purchases and Apple
Subscription purchase and payment are handled by Apple. We may receive product identifiers, transaction state, and expiry information needed to confirm membership, but we do not receive full payment-card details. Apple's own privacy policy applies to data it processes.
7. Retention
Account and entitlement data are kept while your account exists. After account deletion, we delete the account, activity records, and membership link; minimum records required for security, fraud prevention, dispute handling, or law are deleted or anonymized when no longer needed. You control local documents and may remove them by using Clear Local Documents or uninstalling the app.
8. Your Choices and Rights
In the app, you can clear local documents, clear account activity, sign out, and permanently delete your account. You may also contact support@hcjworld.com to request access, correction, export, restriction, or deletion. Deleting the app account does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription; manage it separately under Subscriptions in your Apple Account.
9. Children and Security
Account creation and AI Cloud Translation are for people who are at least 14 and meet the minimum age where they live. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14. We use transport encryption, strong password hashing, least privilege, and access controls, but no system can guarantee absolute security. Contact us promptly if you identify a security issue.
10. Policy Updates
Material changes will be highlighted in the app or on the public webpage with a new effective date. If a change requires new consent, we will request it before processing the relevant data.
